Oval cylinder flat pattern, top and base cut at angles
A flat oval tube cut across the oval at both ends, the two cuts sloping toward each other, as for an oval duct between two inclined surfaces. Give the oval's size, the height between the cuts on the centre line and each cut's angle.
A straight tube of oval section cut by planes across the oval at the top and at the base, the part shortest over one flat.
Sizes you enter
- Length (L): Overall length of the oval, on the surface chosen under Sheet.
- Width (W): Width of the oval: the diameter of its half circles. At most the length.
- Height at the centre (H): Along the tube's centre line, from where the base cut crosses it to where the top cut does.
- Cut angle (A): Angle between the top cut and the base, seen from the front (across the oval): low over the left flat, rising to the right. 0 = square.
- Base cut angle (B): Angle between the base cut and a square end, across the oval: high under the left flat (where the top is low), falling to the right. 0 = square.
What you get
The exact flat pattern of the part, worked out for the sheet thickness measured on the inside, the mean or the outside, with numbered press lines, the part in 3D, its weight and cutting length, and a DXF for laser, plasma or waterjet cutting (STEP as well).
