Flat pattern of a cone cut at the top and the base
A right cone cut by two planes at angles, one across the top and one across the base, closing in on each other on one side: a cone set between two sloping surfaces. Both cut edges are worked out generator by generator, and the seam goes where the part is shortest.
A right cone cut at the top and at the base by two planes at angles, closing in on each other at the seam.
Sizes you enter
- Base diameter (D): At the base: the level where the base cut meets the far side. On the surface chosen under Sheet.
- Apex height (Ha): From that level to the point where the sides meet, on the surface chosen under Sheet.
- Top cut height (H): Where the top cut crosses the cone's axis, measured up from the base.
- Top cut angle (β): Angle between the top cut and the base, seen from the front. 0 = cut square to the axis. The seam is at the low side.
- Base cut angle (γ): Angle of the cut at the base, seen from the front. It rises from the far side of the base toward the seam. 0 = base square to the axis.
What you get
The exact flat pattern of the part, worked out for the sheet thickness measured on the inside, the mean or the outside, with numbered press lines, the part in 3D, its weight and cutting length, and a DXF for laser, plasma or waterjet cutting (STEP as well).
